Please Note: In order to pay for and attend a course, the following workshop / induction days are not mandatory! We provide them as a helpful tool to indicate to you, whether or not you have the skills we are looking for!

Have you got what it takes?

If you believe that anyone can become an investigator, you would be sadly mistaken; this is a skills based industry which requires certain skill sets. Of course, some training providers would be quite happy to take your money without carrying out due diligence and ensuring that you have the skills they are looking for.

At Amalgam Training we take our responsibility for recruiting Incident, Fraud & Claims Investigators seriously as we can only train a maximum of 8 persons per course and we need to make sure that those 8 people are up to the task.

The next thing you need to do is reserve a place at one of our CERT IFCI Workshop/Induction days. These are completely free of charge and there is no obligation whatsoever to sign up for a course on the day.

Part 1 – Workshop

The workshop covers 3 aspects;

  • 1.       An introduction to the personal injury and insurance claims industry from Dean Hyde, Chairman of the Association of Incident, Fraud & Claims Investigators. Dean has a wealth of knowledge having dealt with 1,000’s of claims since 1998 and is now an expert witness in serious and fatal road traffic as well as other incidents.
  • 2.       Cert IFCI Course – one of the lecturers here at Amalgam will take you through the process of qualification and what is required from you in order to complete the course and obtain the coveted AVA Level 4 Certificate in Incident, Fraud & Claims Investigation; we will also be showing you video testimonials from previous candidates.
  • 3.       Role of an investigator - One of our industry knowledgeable consultants will take you through the types of work you will be undertaking, what the realistic earnings potential of investigators are and how your role, and your personal development, will be supported post course. You will also get an opportunity to speak to an existing investigator.

After seeing the in depth presentation we will treat you to some lunch and if you have decided after seeing the presentation that this career move is not for you, you will be free to go. If, however you have decided that you would like to pursue this further you can stay around for the second part of the day, which is the Cert IFCI Induction Test.

Part 2 – Induction

The induction test has several elements to test your skills and suitability for this industry.

  1. Task 1 & 2 Draw A Plan – This is all about orientation from a known scenario and drawing a plan which could include several vehicles, direction of travel and orientation. Task 2 is slightly more involved than task 1.
  2. Task 3 Proof read a statement - We will give you a full liability and quantum statement to read through and highlight any spelling mistakes.
  3. Task 4 METT Testing – You will be required to view a series of photographs and determine the emotion shown on the individual faces.
  4. Task 5 Listening – You will be played a recording of a claimant relaying the details of an incident. After taking copious notes you will be required to answer questions based on the recording.
  5. Task 6 Psychometric - You will be given a series of 24 questions which will identify your people skills, work ethic & motivators.

After completing all of these tasks your workshop / induction papers will be marked and it will give us an opportunity to discuss your suitability for this role. A few days after the workshop / induction day we will call you to discuss your results and if you have scored more than 75%, this will indicate to us and to you whether or not you have the skills applicable.

We are positive that you understand the benefit of investing just a few pounds in travelling to meet us, seeing our presentation, undertaking the induction test and finding out whether you have those skills we are looking for rather than spend your hard earned money on a course which is not suitable for you.
