There are 124 postcode areas within the UK and on average it is estimated that there are over 1,000 claims per week in each postcode area which should be investigated but the resources i.e investigators are thin on the ground (obviously some postcode areas are more prevalent than others when it comes to claims. Yet there is not a single postcode area in the Each investigator on average can deal with 12-14 claims per week of varying disciplines, usually covering the following areas; Personal Injury Motor Employers Liability Public Liability Medical Criminal Injuries
Benefit Fraud Property Damage Claims Motor Theft Motor Fire Property Theft Claims In each postcode area to cover all claims investigations you would need a minimum of 83 investigators that equates to 10,292 nationally. We train 6-8 new investigators per month on average (Not all attendees are here to become independent investigators, some have been sent by their employers i.e Rolls Royce, Consignia, Goodyear, Police Service of Northern Ireland, City of London Police, Army, RAF, Navy & JCB to name a few). In order to satisfy national employment levels we would have to train for 107 years! At the moment it is hard to determine just how many investigators exist in the UK due to investigation currently being a totally unregulated industry. What we can say with some degree of accuracy is that after carrying out survey's within the industry, we know 80%+ of existing investigators are producing poor quality work based on the fact that they never have received any training or the training they have received is merely accredited training and is not assessed or has an inadequate level of technical content, to allow those candidates longevity in an industry which is increasingly requiring quality investigation. We envisage a time in the near future when other training companies will come forward to be accredited to deliver the Certificate in Incident, Fraud & Claims Investigation, at the moment Amalgam Training is the only training provider with the technical competence and assessment capability to deliver the qualification in the Increasingly holders of the Certificate in Incident, Fraud & Claims Investigation are in demand and are replacing those individuals who are not able to deliver quality reporting and investigation. More recently, we have been contacted by work providers to develop a skills mark of some kind to identify that investigators have been trained to a specific level and moreover promoting standardisation and best practice amongst investigators. If you want to be the best you have to train with the best! Posted: July 2010 |
